The original Futsal has arrived in Florida!

The sport of Futsal was created in Uruguay in the year 1930 and is now played in over a hundred countries. Futsal is NOT indoor soccer which is played with walls.

FFSA is independent but is affiliated with FEFUSA, the original governing body for AMF/Futsal in the USA. FFSA respects all organizations practicing the game of Futsal. Our National Federation (FEFUSA) belongs to the original World Futsal Organization, FIFUSA/AMF With over 80 Nations as members. FFSA has sanctioned and organized many successful events and tournaments in the past few years. FFSA is now ready to invite Florida's major soccer clubs to join the FFSA into this great soccer development process.

Note:

FFSA does not own any teams or players.
FFSA will consult with parents and coaches when selecting players to represent Florida or the USA in National and International tournaments.
FFSA will visit you and help you set up your Futsal program.

Last Main Event:

Our Yearly Cup of Dreams was played in February with teams from Brazil, Canada and several local teams like Eastlake, Teams from Wesley Chapel, Ponte Vedra, and Saint Pete. Players from New Tampa joined some of T.Knights.

FFSA honors The Father of Futsal Juan Carlos Ceriani December 19th through December 22nd with our FEFUSA sanctioned event the International "Juan Carlos Ceriani Cup".

FFSA Pledge

Florida Futsal & Soccer Association promises to introduce and teach Futsal to the Youth and Adults and through this improve the skills of soccer in general. We pledge to all Futsal and/or Soccer clubs and organization to respect each and every one of their rules but to focus on the original rules of Futsal, the way it was meant to be played. FFSA is an independent Association and will allow members of any Club, Organization or Federation to participate in FFSA sanctioned tournaments and events.

Futsal Impact On Soccer Skills

Positive Soccer results for Marshall Middle school in Plant City Florida using Futsal (Indoor soccer without the use of walls) training program.

Marshall Middle School (MMS) booked tremendous success during 2007 and 2008 soccer program.  Finishing the five game 2007 soccer season with results of 6-0, 4-0, 8-0, 0-0 and 6-0.  The 2008 season results were almost equal to 2007, 5-0,8-0,7-1,4-0 and 6-0.  In two seasons only 1 goal has been scored against MMS and they remained undefeated demonstrating that Futsal indeed is a great tool to improve soccer skills.

In October 2006, Florida Futsal & Soccer Association (FFSA) introduced the game of Futsal to the public school system of Hillsborough County.  Several schools asked the FFSA to come and give some demonstrations.  Coach Dennis, athletic director of MMS asked the event coordinator and coach of the FFSA to please help out with their soccer team who was in need of a coach.  Coach Philip accepted the challenge and made it a point to show that Futsal does indeed improve soccer skills.  Instead of the regular outdoor soccer practices, Coach Philip took the boys and some players of the girls team into the gymnasium and practiced once or twice a week playing Futsal.  The girl’s team, which had never won a game in the past, ended up winning two out of the 5 games by 7-0 and 4-0.  The boy’s team had never won a championship before and surprised all the others with the above-mentioned results.  The Florida Futsal & Soccer Association, member of the US Court Soccer Federation, together with the MMS, has put together a more intensive program to play Futsal after school and on the weekends.  The majority of the players will be members of the MMS, but other middle schools and private clubs are also welcome to participate in this program.  As soon the volleyball season is over we will go full speed into the Futsal program.

"We are very proud to be the pioneers in the school system introducing this great game", said MMS A.D Coach Dennis.  PE teachers Coach Klag and Coach Butler, the girl’s soccer Coach, are happy that after years of struggling, MMS is getting some recognition with all their sport programs.  Coach Klag and Dennis both have played soccer in the past and stand completely behind the program.  The Assistant Principal of Marshall has been to all the games and gave us his blessing.  Several coaches from the other Middle schools have already asked for assistance in the near future for their teams.  Another positive point about this program is that there are so many good private clubs in the area who can use extra programs during the off season and the very hot Florida summer months. Tampa Soccer & Futsal Academy

5th Annual Cup of Dreams International Youth Futsal Tournament

Tampa Soccer and Futsal Academy hosted their 5th Annual Cup of Dreams International Futsal Tournament with participation from 28 Youth teams ages 9- 17. Teams from Brazil and Canada participated together with 17 Floridian teams in a weekend full of Great Futsal and friendship. Most of the Brazilian stayed with the Tampa Teams and got a taste of the Floridian hospitality. The games were quite well balanced with the youngest age group being won by the East Lake Arsenals while the oldest age group was won by our visitors from Canada. All together a great event with many thanks going to the Tampa Sports commission and the Temple Terrace Recreation Center for their great cooperative spirit!

The Canadian snow birds were very happy to be away from the weather for a few days. We hope that the upcoming Cup of Dreams in 2009 will atract many teams from all over the country.
